China’s Exports, Imports Surge on Strong Global Demand

May.06 — Mitul Kotecha, senior emerging markets strategist at TD Securities, discusses the outlook for the Chinese economy and the yuan. China’s exports rose more than expected in April and imports climbed, reflecting strong domestic and international demand and surging commodity prices. Exports grew 32.3% in dollar terms in April from a year earlier, while imports soared 43.1%. Kotecha also looks at how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting India’s economy.
